Both planes were old. The worst part? NOT ONE APOLOGY OFFERED BY ANYONE AT AMERICAN AIRLINES AT ANY TIME. It was if the dleays never ocurred. Stay away from this airline if possible. I was going to Colorado Springs for my friend's wedding. I had purchased my ticket online, had checked it the day before, and had checked my flight a few hours before I left for the airport. What's funny is that somehow American had changed me to a different flight altogether without contacting me.
When I got into the airport and tried to print my boarding pass I got nothing. I tried to catch the eye of someone at the desk, but she was literally screaming at her other coworker because of a break issue. Fine, I could wait, right? After almost 5 minutes of my waiting, I finally asked for help and she started bitching me out. Then she marked me to go through security, after the whole fiasco got fixed (I didn't ask, the people in security told me, both ways.) Both times. And my flight was changed on the way back. Had I not carpooled with someone who had to be at the airport 2 hours earlier than me, I would have missed my flight.

Oh, and I wasn't flying during a peak time. I was actually flying during the week, during non-peak travel times. Since then I have never flown American. I am willing to pay a little more and fly any other airliner.

What these major companies need to realize is that when you let customer service slip, you lose long-term loyalty. If you want long-term profitability, you have to be willing to make people feel valued, and American doesn't get that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26349423.post-59578690068801790632009-12-27T03:06:15.392-05:002009-12-27T03:06:15.392-05:00An interesting and descriptive post. I hear these ...An interesting and descriptive post. I hear these stories every single day, an i don't even work for an airline or the airport industry.

The experience you went through definitely should not have happened, nor to anyone else. As far as today's society dealing with such disorganization from a major airline and airport, which have been in business for countless decades, is very unacceptable from business itself. People purchase a service and expect to receive for what they pay for, or nonetheless, a bit more if the company in question cannot meet the original deal, but the lack of customer service and unable to resolve the situation in an suitable fashion created by the company like American Airlines just gives the customer less hope and more troubles to consider that company (AA) again.

Sorry to hear about your chaotic day and i do hope you continue to fly with a travel agency and airline who have their shit together from start to finish and satisfying the customer. After all, they have a business or job because of us travellers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26349423.post-17516984828129825342009-12-26T14:37:06.383-05:002009-12-26T14:37:06.383-05:00Thanks for your input, Baybean. I had in fact set up a flight notification, which I got via text message to my mobile phone. We didn't miss the flight because of your typical flight delay.

Also, as I mentioned, my dad personally went to the American Airlines ticketing office about ten days *before* the trip to make sure everything was ok, which is when he learned about the flight change.

He was told to arrive two hours before the flight. We were there two and a half hours before. You can only check bags five hours before a flight, no earlier than that, or so we were told.

And we only had ONE bag to check. Everything else was two small carry-ons and two purses. That was it.

And pray tell, how is a book or laptop going to reduce stress having an airline mess up your flight?Maria de los Angeleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12827363023111783564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26349423.post-63397203544696340622009-12-23T22:14:02.067-05:002009-12-23T22:14:02.067-05:00For the trip of a lifetime I'd be checking the...For the trip of a lifetime I'd be checking the status online a least a few times before the day of the flight. You write a blog and 'silicon beach', it should be habit. Even if someone else bought the tickets, your name is on one of them.

Arriving during the holiday rush 2.5 hours before a cross country flight that you hadn't checked in for with two elderly folks and all your bags? I'd have left a little more time. People for some reason love cutting it short arriving at the airport.
